“Pinata Day” was celebrated by/with the residents, tenants, visitors, and staff trying their hand at a lucky swing in hopes of breaking open the pinata and spilling the enclosed candy and prizes to be enjoyed by all during the afternoon on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue, Iowa.

 

Thanks to Ray & Doris Theisen for hosting the game of “Euchre” [as volunteers at the Mill Valley Care Center (MVCC)] during the morning on Friday; and hosting “Music with Ray & Doris” for/with the tenants [at the Sunrise Villa Assisted Living (SVAL)] and the residents (at the MVCC) during the noontime on Friday, and the evening-time on Sunday and Tuesday.

Thanks to Jerzie Petersen (Dietary Supervisor) and the Dietary Department staff for their assistance with Activities for/with the residents and tenants during the afternoon on Friday.  Thanks to Jerzie, Jaide, and staff for making a variety of “Treats/Goodies” for the residents and tenants.

Thanks to Dale Meier (volunteer) and Marlyce T. (tenant, volunteer) for hosting the game of “Dominoes” during the afternoon on Friday.  Thanks to the Dietary Department staff for hosting “Treats with Dietary”, serving “soft serve” ice cream desserts after the games.  Thanks also to Dale for the delicious cookies going with the ice cream!

Thanks to Marlyce T. (tenant, volunteer) for leading the Rosary prayers (at the SVAL) for the Catholic tenants during this month.

Thanks to the Family of Eldora S. for sponsoring the Music of “Just Jer” (at the MVCC) for/with the residents and tenants during the noontime on Saturday.

Coffee and Conversation” was enjoyed by the tenants and families (at the SVAL) during Sunday morning.

Thanks to both Aunika Hager and Arianna Roeder (Bellevue High School Students, volunteers) for hosting time in Activities with the residents and tenants during the early morning hours on Monday!  Thank you, Ladies, – “It’s a Great way to start the Day” with your visit!

“Resident Council Meeting” was held (at the MVCC) with the residents during the midmorning on Monday.

“Tenant Council Meeting” was held (at the SVAL)) with the tenants during noontime on Tuesday.

“Euchre Games” were held during the afternoon on Tuesday.

Thanks to Molly Ploessl and Mary Kubik, (volunteers), and Kay Konrardy (volunteer/family) for hosting “Bingo Games” with the tenants (at the SVAL), held during the afternoon on Tuesday.

“National Stress Awareness Day” observance featured discussions with the residents and tenants sharing some of the “old-time” remedies, that were sure to chase any “stress away” during the afternoon on Tuesday.

Thanks to Laurie Andersen (volunteer) and Mary Hinke and Rick Michels (volunteers/family), for hosting “KMAQ Radio Bingo”, held with the residents during the afternoon on Wednesday with Joy M. (staff).

Special Thanks to Jeanne Weber, Laurie Andersen, (volunteers) and Steve Junk and Linda Bennett (volunteers/family) for hosting “Bingo Games”, held with the residents and tenants (at the MVCC) during the afternoon on Wednesday with Joy M. (staff).  (“Soft serve” ice cream was served for the residents, tenants, & staff after the games.)

Thanks to Laurie Andersen (volunteer) and all the involved staff for their assistance in Activities during the day on Wednesday.

Special Thanks to Loras Weber (Deacon, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellevue, Iowa), Jr. and Laura Steines, Betty Portz, and Judy Moran (volunteers) for hosting the Catholic Communion Service (at the SVAL) during the midmorning on Thursday.  Thanks to Jr. & Laura Steines (volunteers), and all the staff/volunteers for assisting with reciting the Rosary prayers and assisting the distribution of Communion to the residents (at the MVCC).

“KMAQ Radio Bingo” was available with the residents during the afternoon on Thursday with Joy M. (staff).

“Exercise & Reminisce” games were held with the residents during midmorning on Thursday.

“Pinata Day” was celebrated with the residents, tenants and staff (taking turns at having a lucky swing) to break open the pinata filled with candy and prizes to be enjoyed by all during the afternoon on Thursday.

Special Thanks to all the staff/volunteers for assisting Activities during this past week: Theresa Schwager, Susan Eversole, Jillian Kueter, Lenae Sieverding, Sara Kloser, Dezirae Endriss, Susan Cates, Megan Meier, Atlanta Wilson, and other unnamed staff and volunteers.

Thanks to all the volunteers for being awesome.  All the involved volunteers and staff who assisted Activities throughout this past week.  Rita Miller for bringing in items.  Pam Reedy for having many varieties of pizzas delivered to MVCC for the staff.  Susan Cates for her many donations of 40 pounds of “Wild Birdseed” and filling up the bird feeders for the residents and tenants during the past weeks, so that the residents and tenants could enjoy seeing the “Spring Homecoming flights of the Colorful Birds”.  Anonymous for their donations of items during this past week.  Thanks to everyone for their assistance and support with all the “individualized” activities/events during this past week.
