John Portz is a conservationist at heart and has a great love of nature. So much so that he is in college classes at Iowa State with plans to eventually join the field upon graduation. John has also had an extreme interest in photography and saved his initial paychecks to invest in a camera and all the various lenses so he could photograph nature. These two interests work hand in hand with one another. John is a self-taught photographer and has a wonderful eye for capturing his subject matter. Please, take time to stop at the library between 9AM and 3PM on Saturday, August 9th to view his artwork. John will be available from 10AM to Noon to discuss his photos, the subject matter and his approach to photographing nature. He looks forward to informal chats and questions. The photography will remain on display for an additional two weeks after this special premiere. Look for information on the next exhibit coming in the next couple months.
