When looking at the River Hawks record, one might think that there is no way this team would be able to land a player on all-conference. What you don’t see on paper is the hustle and heart that this team has. Every game we had this year, umpires, coaches from opposing teams, and even fans from opposing teams were taking notice of the talent and dedication of EV players. After games, Coach Ellis and myself would be approached by that group of people stating in excitement that they couldn’t wait to see what was to come for our team! This small (11 players in all) and very young (1 junior, 3 sophomores, 3 freshmen, and 4, 8th graders) team tried to give fans a show every time they hit the field. Diving catches, triple plays, aggressive base running, throwing strikeouts, and more, they tried to give this every game. Well that hard work paid off, as four team members were recognized. One quick note: All four of these girls are very deserving of these awards, and one thing they all recognized once they found out they were receiving the award, was that none of it would’ve happened without the rest of their teammates. Acknowledgement of true team leaders. Congratulations Elisaveta Knutsen, Claire Roe, Ada Johnson, and Rylie Gillen!
