88 Kids Already Registered for This Summer’s Fun and Fresh Program

DEWITT, Iowa — The Power of Produce (PoP) Club is off to a strong start at the DeWitt Farmers Market, with 88 local youth already registered to participate in this hands-on, educational program focused on healthy eating and wellness.

Held Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Lincoln Park in DeWitt, the PoP Club invites children ages 4 to 12 to complete a fun, food-related activity each week. After participating, kids receive a $2 token to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables from local vendors at the market.

“The enthusiasm from families and vendors has been incredible,” said Allie Cannon, Ag and Natural Resources Program Coordinator. “PoP Club not only gives kids a chance to engage with their local food system, but it also empowers them to make healthy choices and build positive habits that last.”

Registration is free and easy—families can stop by the PoP Club booth at the market any Thursday to sign up and participate throughout the summer.

The program is made possible thanks to generous support from ISU Extension and Outreach Clinton County, Obsidian Strength Gym, Rise Counseling & Consulting, DeWitt Family Dentistry P.C., and Journey Fitness 24.7. Weekly activities are sponsored, in part, by Rose’s Tupperware Solutions.
