Members of the North Bend Community Center and Association recently held a fundraising event at the Spragueville Community Center in order to raise funds to replace the roof on the one-room schoolhouse on Iron Bridge Road west of town.  Kelly and Tammy Rundle of Fourth Wall films were the presenters at the gathering, and they showed clips of their one room school documentary, Country School: One room, One Nation which featured several interviews and pictures from their filming day at the Fairfield #2/North Bend Schoolhouse.  They followed that up with the presentation of Resurrecting Forest Grove, a newly renovated one-room school near Bettendorf.  North Bend members went through similar processes in restoring our local school.  A discussion and question and answer session followed.  It was a good day to spend in a theatre setting created in the Community Center, complete with popcorn and snacks to have as patrons learned about one-room schools.  If you would like to donate to the North Bend roof project and their history preservation projects you may leave a check at the Preston Maquoketa State Bank or mail a donation to 127 East Main Street, Spragueville, Iowa 52074.
