Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging (NEI3A) is proud to announce the launch of Dementia Friendly Iowa’s Dementia Service Specialist (DSS) Consultations, a free service for individuals and families navigating dementia!
At NEI3A, we recognize how overwhelming dementia can be for both individuals and families. Our new DSS Consultations are designed to provide personalized support, guidance, and resources to those navigating dementia.
Each consultation is led by a trained Dementia Service Specialist who will:
* Assess the current situation, including symptoms and stage of dementia
* Help develop a clear care plan
* Provide vital education on dementia progression, safety strategies, and communication tips
* Offer tools and techniques to support caregivers
* Connect families with local resources such as support groups
* Facilitate a unique dementia simulation experience to help caregiver better understand dementia
Every session concludes with a customized roadmap and trusted referrals, ensuring participants leave feeling informed, supported, and empowered.
