In celebration of National Assisted Living Week (September 7-13, 2025), tenants are shown engaged in enacting a theatre play entitled “Murder at Mardi Gras: Murder Mystery” at the Sunrise Villa Assisted Living (Bellevue, Iowa) on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

 

A big Thank You to all the families, friends, residents, tenants, staff, volunteers, churches, businesses, schools, teachers, students, and musicians, who contributed to making our week so enjoyable and memorable for the residents and tenants.  Your visits, sharing your gifts and time mean the world to everyone here.

We would like to recognize our amazing volunteers for their continued support and dedication.  You truly make a difference!  Bingo (at MVCC): (volunteers): Jeanne Weber, Lynn Muhlenhaupt, Maryetta Lampe, Laurie Anderson, Ray T. Special thanks with appreciation to the families who brought in assorted cookies for the staff – they were greatly enjoyed and disappeared quickly by the staff.)

Special Thanks to Kelby Mueller for sharing his music with the tenants (at the SVAL) and then with the residents (at the MVCC) during the evening time on Sunday.

National Assisted Living Week (September 7-13, 2025) was celebrated and featured the Theme: “Ageless Adventure”!

Chef Kevin Hebert (HealthCare of Iowa) arrived and prepared breakfast for the tenants (at the SVAL), where they enjoyed a full array of goodness!  (Breakfast menu: Sausage Gravy Biscuits, 2-egg Omelet, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, pastry, oven potatoes and toast).  He then presented a food demonstration (at the MVCC) for the residents and tenants during the afternoon on Tuesday.  (Menu sampling: Monti Cristo Quesadillas with raspberry sauce and powdered sugar, BLT Tortilla Pinwheels with Ranch dressing and green onions, and Mini Key Lime pie Cheesecakes with whipped cream and fresh Lime!)  Sampling all the great foods and desserts was great, as All were Yummy!

Thanks to Millennium Therapy for providing weekly therapeutic activities to enhance the quality of life by promoting physical health, cognitive function and emotional well-being.  Thanks to A.J. Bishop (Physical Therapist) and Kelly O’Donnell (Occupational Therapist) for providing our weekly therapeutic session with the residents exercising (at MVCC) during the midmorning on Wednesday, with Theresa S. & Joy M. (staff); and thanks to A.J. Bishop (Physical Therapist) for providing our weekly therapeutic session with the tenants at the Sunrise Villa Assisted Living (SVAL) during the midmorning on Monday.

Sunday at the Assisted Living had “Music with Kelby Mueller”.  The Scavenger Hunt started on Monday and ended on Friday.  Monday had Card games and “Exercises with Therapy”.  Tuesday had “Brunch with Chef Kevin” and “Crafts with Kayla and MaryJo”.  Wednesday had “Manicures” and the tenants actively engaged in mystery theater, entitled “Murder at Mardi Gras: Murder Mystery”!  Congrats to Merle K. for solving the “who done it” in this murder mystery on Wednesday!  Thursday had the celebration of a Catholic Church Service, “Music with Jerry Long”, and a Pizza Party!  Friday had the Euchre Tournament, and the Scavenger Hunt ended on Friday with the winners to be announced later.  Saturday held the “Rummikub” games!  This concluded our energic “Ageless Adventures” of Assisted Living Week.

Thanks to the Dietary Department for their assistance with Activities during this past week, etc.  Thanks to everyone for their assistance and support with all the “individualized” activities/events during this past week.
