Thanks to Marlyce T. (tenant, volunteer) for leading the Rosary prayers (at the SVAL) for the Catholic tenants on Sunday midmornings during this month.
“Coffee, Rolls, and Conversation” was enjoyed by the tenants and families (at the SVAL) during Sunday morning.

“Columbus Day” was observed with the residents and tenants during Monday. Noting some favorite quotes: “By prevailing over all obstacles and distractions, one may unfailingly arrive at his chosen goal or destination.” – Christopher Columbus. “Every ship that comes to America got its chart from Columbus.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson. “May God Bless America the Beautiful!”
“Exercises with Reminisce” was held with the residents during the morning on Monday.
“Euchre Games” were available at the MVCC during the afternoon on Monday.
Games were held with the tenants during the afternoon of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Our “Autumn Festival – I Love Fall Prevention” featured some remarkably energetic rehabilitation therapy games with the residents and tenants, e.g., Bobbing-for-Apples, Ring Toss, Bean Bag Toss, Noodle Badminton, Foosball, Soccer, and Kickball, all played during the day on Tuesday. Teams were formed with names like “Holy Rollers” and “Crazy Kickers”, with Joy M. (staff) serving as a goalie. The teams were competitive and all winners! Many Thanks to Kelly O’Donnell (volunteer / Occupational Therapy), MaryJo Konrady (volunteer / Universal Worker), Lenae Sieverding (Administrator), Courney Maxwell (Administrator Assistant), Kindal Klein (Dietary Supervisor), Alison Meier (Restorative Nurse), Theresa Schwager (Environmental Services), John Rubel (Maintenance), Joy Marchiando (Activity Director), Kayla Blaser (SVAL Director), Season Kutsch (MDS Coordinator & ADON), Melissa Koch (AL Delegation Nurse), Linda Bennett, Rita Miller, Lynn Muhlenhaupt, and all the participating residents, tenants, staff, and families, the Anonymous families & staff (volunteers/families) for making our “Autumn Festival” event possible and so much fun.
Many Thanks to Kim Moore (Marquette High School Instructor) and her student Amelia Schroeder for visiting us, delivering Birthday cards for/to the residents and tenants with birthdays in October, bringing birdseed and filling the birdfeeders, and joining in our “Autumn Festival” activities.
Thanks to Molly Ploessl and Rita Miller (volunteers) for hosting “Bingo Games” with the tenants (at the SVAL), held during the afternoon on Tuesday.
“Outside Porch” and “Under the Gazebo” were held with the residents and their families during the days of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Thanks to Jeanne Weber and Betty Bakey, Linda Bennett, and Lynn Muhlenhaupt (family/volunteers) for hosting “Bingo Games”, held with the residents (at the MVCC) during the afternoon on Wednesday with Joy M. (staff). “Treats/Goodies” were served after the Bingo Games with the residents (at the MVCC) and with the tenants (at the SVAL).
“Exercise & Reminisce with Restorative” was held with the residents during the morning on Thursday.
Thanks to Laura & Jr. Steines, and Betty Portz (volunteers, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellevue, Iowa), for hosting the Rosary prayers and Catholic Communion (at the SVAL) during the midmorning on Thursday. Thanks to Jr. Steines (volunteer) for reciting the Rosary prayers., and Laura Steines (volunteer) for assisting the distribution of Communion to the tenants and residents.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) announced the official theme for Fire Prevention Week (October 6-12, 2024) to be: “Smoke alarms: make them work for you!” We honored our local Firemen during the afternoon on Thursday.
Special Thanks to Lenae Sieverding, Theresa Schwager, Susan Eversol, Season Kutsch, Jill Herrig, Alison Meier, Megan Meier, Melissa Koch, Kayla Blaser, MaryJo Konrardy, Kindal Klein, Courtney Maxwell, CNAs, John Rubel, and all the other involved unnamed staff and volunteers for assisting Activities during this past week.
