We are introducing a new section called, “Remember When”. We asked the residents this question: “Did you go sleigh riding when you were younger?”
Larry L. (resident) “We lived on the farm and we had a big hill, so we would always be sleigh riding. My parents didn’t go but there were four of us kids, and we lived on Big Mill Creek. That’s the road my parents lived on. That’s where we went sleigh riding. We had to share a sled. We built snowmen, and we had snowball fights. The boys did anyway. The girls didn’t. I just can’t remember back that far. That was 60 years ago. When I was on the farm. I got drafted during the Korean War/Conflict. Then when I got drafted, I was over in Korea. My dad wrote me a letter & wanted to know if I wanted to farm when I got home. If not, they would sell the farm. I said, “sell it”. I didn’t want to farm. It wasn’t a very good farm. It was really hilly, and the bottoms would flood all the time, if it rained.”
