We are introducing a new section called, “Remember When”. We asked the residents this question: “Did you go sleigh riding when you were younger?”

Gloria M. (resident) remembers that: “I went sleigh riding, but not for ever very long, because I would get so cold. I would get angry, because I would get so cold. We would sleigh by the Catholic Cemeteries. I tried ice skating, but it was hard. It didn’t take long for me to get cold. Then we would have snacks! We liked that!” Gloria was born in Iowa City, Iowa, to Lillian (Heckelsmiller) and Milton Guenther. There were 4 siblings: Dale, Russell, Sharon (Gloria) and Dennis Guenther. Gloria graduated from Bellevue High School; she was a secretary at the Bellevue Elementary School for 25 years before she retired. Robert passed away on (2/21/2018) and was a USA Army Veteran.

(We want to thank Gloria for sharing her memories of “years past” with us. Hopefully, Gloria’s tales will bring some smiles to your face, as you read her article.)
