Andy McKean, the Democratic candidate for State Representative in District 66, has challenged Republican Rep. Steve Bradley to debates.  In a letter to Bradley dated June 8, 2024, McKean expressed the hope that the upcoming campaign will be “respectful and issue-oriented”.  “In that spirit, I am challenging you to two one-on-one debates, one to be held in Jones County and one to be held in Jackson County.”
Although McKean anticipates that the debates won’t take place before September, he is making the challenge now for ease of scheduling before his and Bradley’s calendars fill up.  McKean’s letter requests that Bradley let him by June 29 if he is willing to move forward with scheduling debates.
“Elections shouldn’t be decided by simplistic sound bites and misleading social media posts,” McKean commented.  “I hope that Steve will accept this challenge and join me in debates that will give the voters a fuller understanding of where he and I stand on the critical issues facing Iowa.”
District 66 includes all of Jones County and Jackson County with the exception of Maquoketa, Baldwin, and Monmouth.
