Linda Kay Timmer, 79 of Preston, IA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 24, 2025 at the Maquoketa Care Center, Maquoketa, IA.
Linda was born September 19, 1945 in Morrison, IL to Delbert & Gertrude (Dykstra) Nelson. She graduated with the Fulton High School class of 1963. After high school she began employment with Fidelity Life Insurance Association in Fulton, IL. On October 24, 1970, she married Bernard J. Timmer in Fulton, IL. This union was blessed with two daughters, Heather & Heidi.
Linda was a devoted homemaker, wife, & mother. She farmed with her husband north of Spragueville for 16 years. Linda was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church, Spragueville, where she was active in her Bible Study group, church council, & a Sunday School teacher. She was a 4-H leader for the Real Farmer’s Daughter’s 4-H Club in Spragueville for two years. She enjoyed singing music, playing the accordion & organ, & the company of dachshunds over the years (Tisha, Katy, Val, Daisy & Misty). She enjoyed watching Hallmark Holiday movies & westerns, polka music, sewing, reading, & sweets of any kind.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bernard of Preston; two daughters, Heather (Steve) Recker of Epworth, IA; Heidi (Jeremy) Moklestad of Buffalo Center, IA; Grandchildren Clayton (Tori) Heinrich Worthington, IA; Garth (Hope) Heinrich of Dubuque, IA; Madelyn (Andrew) Heinrich of Dubuque; Justin at home, Joe Recker, & Danny (Kylie) Recker.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert & Gertrude Nelson, her sister Shirley Springer, Mother & Father-in-Law Albert & Marian Timmer, Sister & brother-in-law Mary Ellen (Timmer) & Jesse Roberts, & Sister-in-Law Donna (Timmer) Kilburg.
A funeral service will be held 11am Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Preston, Iowa with a visitation from 9:30 – 11am, prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Preston.
