On Leadership Day, students invited family and community members to a morning of sharing about their group and individual leadership projects.  After the assembly and classroom visits, the classes then took turns going to the gym to help package packets of rice, vitamins, flavoring and more.  The packets each contain 5 meals.  Over 8000 meals were packaged over the course of activity. Kids Against Hunger helps to make a difference by feeding kids in your local area as well as in Nicaragua, Haiti, and Honduras. Kids Against Hunger in the QC organizes these Packaging Events where volunteers package food for the hungry and malnourished.

The older elementary students were teamed up with a younger friend, so everyone was able to participate in the food packaging event.

After all of the ingredients are added to the bags and they are in the correct weight range, they need to be sealed with a hot press.

The entire Easton Valley Elementary packaged over 8000 meals as part of the Kids Against Hunger leadership activity.  Young people can do great things!

Very much an assembly line process. The bagger and the four scoopers set the pace for the whole table.

Making sure the bags are in the correct weight range.  If they aren’t, a few grains of rice are removed or added to get in the correct range before the bags move on to be sealed.

Taking the task at hand quite seriously.
