Local rock band Jane Doe & the Johns recently had their first off-campus gig at The Goose in Dubuque. The band, made up of EV high school students Austin Thomson, Mason Edwards, Leighton Simpson, Nizhonia Shmidt, and Tucker Thomson formed in January and covers a variety of artists from Green Day to Billy Joel. Another young Dubuque band “Static 9”, opened the show with high energy before Jane Doe & the Johns took the stage and performed their set to a standing room only crowd. “The audience was amazing- it was great to see all of the energy and emotion that these students put into their performance reflected back to them in the cheers and singing of the crowd” says music teacher/band manager for the group Jen Diemer. Drummer and vocalist Austin Thomson adds, “It was amazing to experience live music; both performing and listening. Thank you to everyone who came out to support”. The band hopes to perform at more local venues and events in the future.

It’s all about the bass! Mason Edwards wowed the audience with his bass skills and gave them what they wanted after the show when they shouted ENCORE.

Austin Thomson performed on the drums and harmonica and was a lead vocalist during the performance.
