Easton Valley’s music program debuted a new rock band ensemble at the spring concert. The group performed covers of “Come Together” by the Beatles and “Seven Nation Army” by the White Stripes. The group formed in January, and is comprised of five music students, many of whom learned a secondary instrument for the band. Leighton Simpson, Austin Thomson, Tucker Thomson, Mason Edwards, and Nizhonia Schmidt have since dubbed themselves “Jane Doe and the Johns” and play a variety of rock music from different decades. They are looking forward to their first off-campus gig. Catch them at The Goose (920 Main St., Dubuque) on May 10th at 6pm!

“It has been a great way to extend the reach of the music program and has given students the opportunity to learn music in a different way from the traditional concert band setting. It’s one of my favorite parts of the week!” -Jen Diemer (EVHS choir and band director)

Every Rock Band has a guitarist or two or three! The bass players are vital to help maintain a steady beat and to provide ethe lead singer with the cords to sing along to during the performance.
