Such a great week for the River Hawk volleyball girls with much improvement and success! Tuesday was a sweep at Midland as all levels from 7th on up came away with victories! The FS defeated the Eagles in games of 15-9 and 15-11 while the JV squad won in games of 13-21, 21-11 and 15-9! The Varsity kept their momentum and determination going strong with a 3-game sweep of 25-19, 26-24 and 25-21! On Thursday, the River Hawks hosted the annual Pink Out event to raise funds to fight against cancer. It was a well-attended night and we are so very thankful for all that donated by purchasing a duck to chuck, a t shirt, or a silent auction basket! All money raised will be sent to the Iowa City Children’s Hospital! The FS and JV teams were not quite able to defeat very talented North Cedar teams, but the Varsity showed up once again with passion and perseverance to defeat the Knights in games of 25-19, 25-23 and 25-22! It was also a fun night for the girls as they celebrated with teammate Hadley Farrell on reaching 700 career kills! Hadley is now 4 attacks on her way to achieving even more! I think Hadley would be the first to tell you that her success has been a result of playing with some great teammates throughout the past four years! I would agree and also add that Hadley has spent a lot of hours perfecting her incredible volleyball skills and is so very deserving of such an achievement! Congrats to Hadley and all the passers and setters from the past 4 years!
