The Goose Lake Senior Citizens men on October 16th at their new location in Goose Lake for a potluck dinner and afternoon of celebrating their “20” years as a group. They began the group on October 5, 2004.
There were 23 women and men present. Marie Bormann red the dinner prayer and announcing “Marie and Andy’s” 65th wedding anniversary and Marie’s 90th birthday, congratulations to them.
Duetta Banowetz celebrated her birthday and brought treats for everyone.
Delores Hoffman celebrated her 90th birthday recently and she treated the group with sweets. Pat Driscoll and Doris Hoffman brought home grown apples to share with everyone. Many thanks went to them.
Shirlie Andresen made baskets with candy in them and Betty Wiebers made special Christmas bulbs. Thanks went to them as they both shared them with everyone present.
Jan Bormann read a special poem for the group. Peggy Jenkins who always attends the monthly and other meetings brought a gift for the group.
Many thanks go to Peggy for all she does for the seniors. Pat Furnell, an active member has been ill. Get well wishes go to her.
Lucy Schoel made a beautiful “20” years cake to share with everyone. Many thanks to Lucy it was delicious!
500 cards were played. Winners were Marianne Jess, first place, tied for second place were Pat Driscoll and Shirlie Andresen and third place went to Doris Hoffman. Bev Goffinet won the door prize.
There were pictures and monthly write ups from the Clinton Herald, the Dewitt Observer and the Preston Times from many years ago on display. Many thanks go to them for the current write ups.
The seniors will be meeting on November 20th. It will be a Thanksgiving dinner at 11:30 a.m. The turkey will be furnished and there will be a potluck dinner at 11:30 a.m. with 500 cards to follow. Everyone is welcome to attend.
