Tuesday, we played Lisbon at home, who has one of the better players in the conference and we knew we had a challenge. Our defense did a good job in the first half and was able to keep us in the game. Halftime score was 25-22. In the second half, we were able to keep battling but their key player was able to hit some shots and made his free-throws to get the game back in their favor. EV lost 50-57. Nolan 16, Easton 10, Justin 8, Keagan and Callan 5 each, Jeremy 4 and Kyler 2.
Friday night we played POP at home; we had to play them without 2 of our starters. They bring one of the best players in the conference, we knew we had a challenge ahead of us! The 1st half we played a different defense to try and key on their best player from scoring his normal average of points. The problem we had then was they had some players that normally don’t hit 3-point shots that did, which was the weakness of our defense. Halftime score we were down 20-35. In the 2nd half our kids never gave up and kept battling but their shots were not falling right and ended up losing 44-69. I told the kids we had a lot of wins in that game, and one was holding the conference leading scorer to half his average! Nolan 17, Keagan and Callan 10 each, James 3, Kyler and Easton 2 each.
Our next game is away at Bellevue Marquette on Friday January 3rd. Hope to see a good crowd there supporting River Hawk basketball.
