The 2024-2025 HS basketball season has started with 3 tough games and came up short on all 3.
Monday, we played at Bellevue Comets and faced a team with a very talented junior class. We battled hard but could not compete with their height and experience. I was proud of the way the boys played hard till the end. Score was EV 40 Bellevue 67. Nolan 8, Justin 7, Easton 6, Keagon 5, Jeremy 4, Callan 4, Kyler 3 and Brandon 3.
Tuesday, we played at home against Alburnett, they were even more of an experienced team. They play real good man to man defense and they have a very good group of seniors. We stayed with them for a quarter and then their size took over, at the half the score was EV 20-45. The second half we tried a different defense, and it slowed Alburnett up a little bit, but Ev ended up losing. Ev 31-70. Jeremy 10, Callan 7, Justin 6, Keagon 4 and Easton 4.
Friday night we played at home against Cal-Wheatland who has the most athletic team in the Conference. It was a good first quarter, score was 20-17 and Ev was shooting the ball well. Second quarter we missed shots and had to many turnovers; we were outscored 22-5 in that quarter. We changed our defense and played them pretty even for the second half. I was proud of the boys for that. In the end the final score was EV 51-73 Nolan 16, Easton 10, Keagon 7, Jeremy 6, Justin 5, Kyler 2, Callan 2, Austin 2 and Stephen 1.
This week we are on the road Tuesday night at Midland. Friday night we travel to North Cedar and finish the week with a home game against Monticello on Saturday.
JV had a good week and went 2 and 1. Beat Bellevue and Cal-Wheatland and lost to Alburnett by 3.
GO RIVER HAWKS!
