It was Conference Tournament week for the Varsity River Hawk Volleyball team. We traveled to Maquoketa Valley on Thursday for the first round of pool play. It was a great night as we started with a win against the East Buch Buchaneers in games of 21-14 and 21-16! Next we persevered and took care of the Midland Eagles in games of 21-12 and 22-20! The final match for the pool play found us to fall just a bit short in games of 13-21 and 19-21. This second-place finish gave us the green light to travel to Starmont on Saturday for the finals. Another great day of pass, set, attack as we took on the Calamus Wheatland Warriors to begin our day. Having lost to the Warriors in the regular season, the River Hawks came to prove their dominance. It took 3 games, but we stuck tight and finished with a victory in games of 25-21, 13-21, and 15-13! This victory gave us the chance to play in the semifinals of the conference! It wasn’t without a fight that we eventually fell to the Springville Orioles in games of 19-25 and 15-25. In a conference of 15 teams, we are very proud to have placed in the final 4! By the time you have read this, we hopefully have won our first round of regional play and are ready to face our next opponent! Huge thanks to those that made the long trips this week to cheer on the River Hawks! We sure appreciate your support!
