Pursuant to Chapter 100.40, State Code of Iowa, and at the request of, LYN MEDINGER, representing each fire department having all or part of their fire districts within JACKSON COUNTY, the open burning ban for JACKSON COUNTY will be lifted effective March 29, 2025, AT 8:00 A.M.
Jackson County Burn Ordinance
Iowa law allows Jackson County residents to burn items on their real property. Open Burning carries with it certain inherent risks that are solely the responsibility of the person conducting the open burn. Jackson County fire protection officials would benefit by receiving advance notice of planned open burning by property owners.
The purpose of this ordinance is to provide Jackson County Fire Districts notice of open burning to better use of fire protection resources and volunteer time. The ordinance will define a controlled and uncontrolled burn, create uniform procedures for advance notice of planned open burning and establish penalties when such advance notice is not provided.
