The Iowa Barn Foundation 2025 All State Barn Tour was held September 13-14 will feature over 100 barns to tour inside and out.  The Steve and Doris Trenkamp Barn, SE of Preston was one of the featured barns from around the state and one of a handful from here in Jackson to be on the tour.  The Iowa Barn Foundation is a volunteer-led non-profit committed to preserving Iowa’s rural heritage – one barn at a time.  Since 1997, the foundation has given out 2.4 million dollars to help save nearly 300 barns.

Milking stanchions with milkers.  A milk stanchion helps keep the animal calm and secure, preventing sudden movements that could lead to injury for both the animal and the milker.

 

Length of rope used in the hay mow when using the hay forks. Antique hay forks served a crucial purpose in the hay industry, particularly in the 19th century. They were used to pull loose hay into barns after it was harvested, facilitating the loading process.

 

Several guests from many states were welcomed to the farm and barn.  Belvidere, Illinois, Chillicothe, Missouri, Platteville, Wisconsin and a several towns in Iowa were represented by visitors who enjoyed their stop at the Trenkamp Farm and Barn.
