Dear Editor,
Clinton (& Jackson) County landowners, please be aware of the consistent barrage of strange and foreign “landmen” approaching neighbors across the county in pursuit of signing land up for “predatory development.” It seems that not a week goes by without someone reporting a car with out-of-state plates, multiple letters of inquiry, or overly friendly salesmen looking to sell you on your own property. Beware, dear reader. Not only will your property values most likely significantly decrease, but you’ll also have more trouble insuring your property once you commit it to industrial wind turbines or solar panels. If you or someone you know has been approached to the point of feeling harassed, there are steps you can make to report this activity to the Sheriff’s department. Eastern Iowa deserves to be protected and preserved. Please be a good neighbor and consider checking in with your neighbors.
