Finding the quiet amid the chaos
What if there was something that 100 percent of us could benefit from having in our lives?
What if that something was not chocolate, coffee or wine?
What sort of entity would this be? A radiant sunrise or the perfect vacation? Maybe your soul mate or a favorite pet? Finally finding your dream job or having a really good hair day?
All good thoughts and guesses, but sorry, no. They’re not even close to the correct answer. That’s the bad news.
The good news: This elusive item actually exists and it’s available to anyone and everyone, no matter your height, weight, social status, economic status, employment status, eye color, hair color or favorite color.
We should all seek it – and most of us do – but many of us forget about it’s overall importance in the grand scheme of things. When you possess it, truly, madly and deeply, all else pales in comparison.
It illuminates the obvious. The joys that perforate your days become magnified under its presence.
It isn’t love, but love often exists in its wake. Love is made better by it.
Along with boosting love, it accentuates the positive while dimming the negative. It puts things in perspective; better put, it makes perspective simple and obvious. It eliminates the need for perspective.
It expands your outlook to see beyond yourself, while at the same time looking within. It is both inside and outside. It is everywhere and nowhere. It is everything and nothing.
And when you understand, it makes plain and complete sense.
It decreases stress and anxiety. It is probably the best thing that’s ever happened to combat stress and anxiety, because those things tend to focus on the past or the future and this gift knows nothing of those things, but instead chooses to put a spotlight on the here and now. Right now.
In that, it is guaranteed forever. Yet it is fleeting. It lasts as long as is required to breathe in, and then out. And again. Over and over. Into eternity.
Imagine that.
It’s the ultimate gift. But, you can’t receive it from anyone other than yourself.
This thing that we all want – that we all need – comes comes only from within and requires not a penny to purchase. In fact it can’t be purchased. It can only be found. And even saying it can be found isn’t correct, because it certainly isn’t hiding. It exists in plain sight.
It is incompatible with anger, hate and war. It is a one-syllable word that we tend to throw around without really thinking about or contemplating it’s significance to our own well being.
Peace.
Maybe the hippy baby boomers were onto something after all.
Peace be with you. Within you. Peace be within me. Peace be within us all.
Truly.
Would’t that be the most lovely thing ever?
Peace: When you find it and have it and understand its importance in your life you will wonder what you ever did before you had this epiphany. Peace – true peace – is the cure-all of all cure-alls.
A piece of the peace can be each of ours – unitarily – forever. Oh, we may have minor doubts and gaps here and there, but when you do find your own peace, where it’s been residing inside you all along, you won’t ever want to let go.
As well you shouldn’t.
