The Community Foundation of Jackson County is excited to welcome a new advisory board member, Ken Anderson of Preston, who will support its mission to improve quality of life for people in Jackson County.

“Ken brings a unique skillset and background to our work,” says Foundation Chair Bob Ploessl. “We welcome his expertise and look forward to strengthening partnerships and building new connections with his support.”

Anderson is retired from a 50-year career as a pharmacist. He’s a longtime Lions Club member, school board director, EMT for the local volunteer ambulance service, and the service’s director for over 30 years. He also is an active member of his church.

“I feel that being a caring pharmacist for 50 years shows that I prioritize community wellness,” says Anderson. He’s a Davenport native who grew up with four sisters and served 27 months in the U.S. Army as a pharmacy officer.

Anderson and his late wife, Barbara, married just before he entered the service. “We shared 48 years together before her passing in 2018. She was also a pharmacist. We took over the pharmacy in Preston in 1976 and sold it to Hartig’s in 2019.”

The Andersons have two daughters and four grandchildren. He enjoys sporty cars, pheasant and deer hunting, reading and biking. He looks forward to meeting new people through his role with the Foundation and helping improve Jackson County communities through impactful grantmaking.
