Easton Valley music students demonstrated their hard work in a showcase concert at Easton Valley Elementary on May 14th. Students from 4th-12th grade performed solo and small ensemble pieces that they have been working on throughout the semester. Some were performing in front of an audience for the first time, including 4th grader Dylan Matthiesen who had the whole room singing along to his rendition of “Take Me Home, Country Roads” on the guitar. The crowd was also wowed, and many moved to tears by students like Sam Limond (11th grade) who sang a beautiful rendition of “Evermore”. EV music teacher Jen Diemer says “So many people had no idea he could sing like that! We’ve had teachers wander into the music room wondering who they were hearing- he’s really broken out of his shell as a soloist, and I can’t wait to hear him sing more”. From classical brass quartets, musical theatre vocal solos, and even a student composer feature, this concert highlighted the excellence of Easton Valley’s music students.
