Prepared by Colton Holdgrafer, Jackson County 4-H Youth Coordinator

On Saturday, March 15th the Bellevue Clover Kids held their monthly meeting. The kids learned all about service to animal shelters. The kids learned why it is important to give back to our communities and that even small hands can make a big difference. The group used the Iowa 4-H Foundation Clover Kids Community Service Mini-Grant to do their own service project. With the grant the clover kids learned how to make homemade dog treats, they baked near 5 batches of treats that will be donated later this month to the Jackson County Humane Society and other shelters in the community. On top of making the dog treats the Clover Kids over the next few meetings will continue working and learning how to make dog toys out of fleece with the hope of donating them to dogs in Jackson County to enjoy. Way to go Bellevue Clover Kids!
