Thanks to Ray & Doris Theisen for hosting “Music with Ray & Doris” for/with the tenants at the Sunrise Villa Assisted Living (SVAL) and the residents at the Mill Valley Care Center (MVCC) during the evening-time on Sunday and Tuesday.

Thanks to Vincent S. and Marlyce T. (tenants, volunteers), and Linda Bennett (family/volunteer) for hosting the game of “Dominoes” during the afternoon on Friday. “Ice Cream Sundaes” were served after the games.

Thanks to Marlyce T. (tenant, volunteer) for leading the Rosary prayers (at the SVAL) for the Catholic tenants on Sunday midmornings during this month.
“Coffee, Rolls, and Conversation” was enjoyed by the tenants and families (at the SVAL) during Sunday morning.
The residents/tenants were given an opportunity to vote absentee on Monday, (October 28, 2024), for the General Election on Tuesday, (November 5, 2024), with two volunteers from the Jackson County Auditor’s Office: Kim Deppe (Republican) and Holly Palmer (Democrat). The ladies took the ballots back to the Jackson County Auditor’s Office for counting in the General Election. Each participating resident/tenant voted in the privacy of their own room or secluded area (during the midmorning on Monday).
“Exercises with Reminisce” was held with the residents during the morning on Monday.
“Euchre Games” were held at the MVCC during the afternoon on Monday.

Thanks to Rick Casel (BHS Instructor – HS/MS, MDSCI & At Risk) with his 21 students from his “Leadership Class” for visiting and playing various games (Jenga, Uno, Old Maid, Euchre, Ladder Ball, and Chess) with the residents, to help exercise the minds and bodies of the residents during the afternoon on Monday.

Thanks to Marquette Catholic School “Make A Difference Day” for sending Mrs. Kim Moore and her students to visit us. They washed the outside and some inside windows of MVCC & SVAL during the midmorning on Tuesday. Thanks to Dietary Department staff for serving beverages and cookies for the students.
Games were held with the tenants during the afternoon of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Special Thanks to Sandra Mueller, Rita Miller, and Linda Bennett (volunteers) for hosting “Bingo Games” with the tenants (at the SVAL), held during the afternoon on Tuesday
“Outside Porch” and “Under the Gazebo” were held with the residents and their families during the days of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Special thanks to David Eischeid (volunteer art instructor) and Mary Kubik (volunteer) for visiting and hosting “Artwork with David & Mary” (an artwork class) during the morning on Wednesday and helping our small group of resident/tenant art students unlock their art talents.
Thanks to Jeanne Weber, Lynn Ernst, Trudy Theisen, Tammy Zimmer (volunteers), and with Linda Bennett, Judy Hueneke-Kremer, and Lynn Muhlenhaupt (family/volunteers) for hosting “Bingo Games”, held with the residents (at the MVCC) during the afternoon on Wednesday. “Ice Cream cups” were served after the Bingo Games with the residents (at the MVCC) and with the tenants (at the SVAL).

“Exercise & Reminisce with Restorative” was held with the residents during the morning on Thursday.

Special Thanks to Rev. Andy Upah (Pastor, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellevue, Iowa) and Deacon Loras Weber (St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellevue, Iowa) for hosting the Catholic Mass and Communion Service, and Memorial-Remembrance Service: “Remembering Our Loved Ones” during the midmorning on Thursday. Thanks to Jr. & Laura Steines, Molly Ploessl, and Maryetta Lampe (volunteers), and all the staff/volunteers for assisting with reciting the Rosary prayers. Thanks to Jr. and Laura Steines (volunteers) for assisting the distribution of Communion to the residents (at the MVCC). Thanks to Rev. Andy Upah, Deacon Loras Weber, Jr. & Laura Steines, Molly Ploessl, and Maryetta Lampe (volunteers), and all the involved staff / volunteers / families. Special Thanks and Welcome to all the families (and friends) who were able to attend this Memorial Service. It lets the families know that not only have they lost a loved one, but the residents, tenants, and staff (here) have also lost a part of our family. Thanks again, families and friends, for joining us. Special Thanks to Lenae Sieverding (Administrator) and all of the involved staff for their assistance during this Memorial event.

Many Thanks to Mrs. Jeanette Hartung-Schroeder (Bellevue Elementary School Principal), Brittini Decker (2nd Grade Teacher) with her 2nd Grade (18) Students, Kailey Miller (2nd Grade Teacher) with her 2nd Grade (19) Students, and Lori Kueter (2nd Grade Teacher) and her 2nd Grade (18) Students, – all 55 students in total; for coming out in their scary Halloween regalia, parading up and down the hallways of the SVAL and MVCC, stopping by the residents and tenants, who handed out Halloween candy during early afternoon on Friday. A lot of intergenerational fun was had with the residents, tenants, families, and staff, who dressed in various costumes for this Halloween occasion. Photos taken during this fun visit may be seen on Facebook. Halloween decorations were displayed inside and outside of MVCC and SVAL. Special Thanks to Lenae Sieverding (Administrator) and all of the involved staff for their assistance during this Halloween event.

Following the school children/students visit, a “Halloween Blast Party” was held with the residents and their families at the MVCC. Refreshments included “Soft-serve” ice-cream from our new ice-cream maker (compliments of and thanks to Joe & Sandra Steinke and Merle Kilburg), cookies and beverages, fostering a festive atmosphere and expressing appreciation to the residents and their families during the afternoon on Thursday.

Special Thanks to Lenae Sieverding, Theresa Schwager, Susan Eversol, Season Kutsch, Jill Herrig, Alison Meier, Megan Meier, Melissa Koch, Kayla Blaser, MaryJo Konrardy, Kindal Klein, Courtney Maxwell, CNAs, John Rubel, and all the other involved unnamed staff and volunteers for assisting Activities during this past week.
