No one in this world should be hungry. That’s why the CROP Hunger Walk held at Preston’s Westside Park is more than just a gathering of people in a place. It’s part of a movement, taking steps and raising funds together to provide meals for those in our own community who need them – and supporting programs that create greater food security in communities all around the world.  Members from several area churches raised funds for the walk and 28 individuals of all ages and from different congregations participated in the CROP Walk event.  The LYO at St. John’s Lutheran Church took the lead for planning this year’s walk.

Making a 1/3 mile lap around the Westside Walking Path carrying a pail of water.  This is to represent the miles that some people in the world must walk while carrying the daily water that they need.

Trying to carry the bucket on head- it’s harder than it looks!!!

Praying for those for whom they are walking.

Young legs decided to run the laps during the CROP Walk.

Starting out on the walk- carrying water in a variety of ways.

A beautiful night for a sunset walk and fundraiser.

Approximately 28 people attended this year’s CROP Walk event at West Side Park.  Just over $800 was raised, surpassing the goal of $600!  Several of the participants were from the youth groups at Faith Lutheran in Andover and St. John’s in Preston.  Members of other local churches were there as well.

Pastor Erick Swanson led a brief church service and discussion before the walk began.
