Peppermint Park Build: Groundwork

After the ground was cleared, Nick Roe (Center) assisted the work crew in some pre-build day work.  Marking for exact locations for each hole were lasered, holes dug and some of the key structural poles were cemented in place, so they were set for the build the following morning.  The benches were placed as well.  Bruce Yaddof (right) helped pre-assemble some of the key pieces for this phase of the project.

Pallet after pallet of parts were stored and hauled from Assenmacher’s Shed and the sorting and assembly would soon begin.

Peppermint Park Build: Rubber Mulch Placement

After the underlayment was in place, bucket loads of green, rubber mulch began to be hauled into the play area.  workers had to spread it out at least four inches deep.

Kolsen Sieverding assisted with rolling out the underlayment and then tacking it in place.

With the mulch in place, the playground is ready for use.  There are few items to touch up, but it is ready for fun.  After fundraising and grant writing there will be a bus stop shelter, gazebo and picnic table and additional sidewalk added to the narrow triangular section of the park.
