Clinton County, Iowa — In celebration of Earth Day, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Clinton County partnered with Neighborhood Forest to distribute 324 free trees to local youth. The initiative encouraged families with children from infancy through 12th grade to sign up online to receive a tree, helping to foster environmental awareness and a love of nature in the next generation.
Trees were distributed at designated pickup locations across the county, with help from Clinton County Extension staff, Master Gardener volunteers, and Clinton Trees Forever volunteers. In addition to tree distribution, families received educational materials and guidance to support successful planting and care.
“We are excited to see such strong community participation and engagement,” said Allie Cannon, Ag and Natural Resources Program Coordinator for Clinton County Extension. “Planting a tree is a small act that can have a lasting environmental impact, and it’s inspiring to see our youth taking part in this effort.”
ISU Extension and Outreach in Clinton County looks forward to continuing this partnership and offering the program again next year to celebrate Earth Day 2026.
